Mobile GT Trailer Leveling Pack
Your mobile gas turbine fleet is built to move, but every new site starts with the same question: will the trailer sit level and stay level? Jack points, soil bearing and shim packs decide whether the unit runs smoothly or shakes itself toward a trip.
If leveling is improvised on arrival, the risk is soft soil that settles under load, misalignment that raises vibration and oil levels that read wrong. The unit trips during commissioning, the crew waits for gravel and a crane, and your customer’s power is delayed by days.
USP&E as Your Guide for Mobile Turbine Sites
We know a mobile unit is only fast if the site is ready when it arrives. Since 2002 USP&E has built 150+ power stations, supplied about 25 000 MW and guided projects in 85+ countries, with 35+ completed utility-scale projects and 18 live projects in 11 countries. Our 400+ engineers and project managers are ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 certified and work under FCPA and OFAC controls. USP&E is a full-service EPC and O&M contractor, not a broker.
Prepare the Pad Before the Trailer Moves
Get a soil report for every one of your sites, even a short-term one. Bearing capacity, water table and drainage decide whether a compacted gravel pad is enough or you need concrete pads under each jack point. Size your pad for the trailer, the fuel skid, the control module and the crane outriggers used to place them.
Mark jack points and pad levels on a site drawing that travels with your gas turbine generators from site to site. Set your level tolerance from the turbine package requirements, and check it after the first heat cycle, because pads often settle once the unit runs. Drainage around the pad stops rain from softening the ground during a long deployment.
Write a Leveling Pack That Travels With the Fleet
A leveling pack should list jack types and ratings, shim stock, cribbing, torque settings and the sequence for lowering the trailer onto its supports. Keep the kit with your unit, not in a distant yard, and audit it after every move so nothing is missing at the next site. Your crew should be able to level, check alignment and record readings without improvising.
Record vibration and oil levels during the first runs and compare them with factory baselines. If your readings drift, recheck the level before blaming the machine. Natural gas engines/stations used beside mobile turbines need the same pad and leveling discipline so the whole temporary plant runs reliably.
Bridge Capacity and Compute Horizons
A remanufactured GE Frame 6B can follow a mobile deployment when your site needs continuous firm megawatts beyond trailer-sized units. Check records, inspection scope and transport needs, and compare used/new gas turbines for how quickly each can be placed on a prepared foundation.
Campuses planning AI gas turbines, hyperscale generators and gas turbines for compute often start with mobile units while permanent yards are built. The planning reference for later blocks is modular FX-45 OCGT 45MW / CCGT 108MW 2×1, for 50 Hz and 60 Hz, with capacity slots from 2028. One contractor carrying hyperscale EPC/O&M makes the hand-off from mobile pads to permanent plant smooth.
USP&E Offices Serving Mobile Gas Turbine Buyers
You should not have to explain your load profile three times. For your mobile GT site receiving and fuel hook-up, USP&E links one accountable team across its offices, starting in the US: Colorado Springs (1755 Telstar Dr, Suite 300) and Knoxville (800 S Gay St, Suite 700) for US-side engineering, site walks and equipment follow-up.
London (162-168 Regent Street) sets up commercial structure and finance, Johannesburg (22 Kildoon Rd, Bryanston) leads design, project controls and quality for mobile gas turbine trailers, Frame 6B bridges and BOP skids, Cape Town (31 Brickfield Road, Woodstock) adds engineering depth, and Wuxi, China (No. 1, Ningzhou Road, Wuxi) expedites switchgear, transformers and balance-of-plant from Chinese manufacturers.
For a mobile fleet, that means the team that checks your soil report and pad drawing also sends the crew with the leveling pack, and is on hand when vibration readings after the first heat cycle need a decision. Regions served: USA | AFRICA | UK | UAE | CHINA. With 85+ countries guided, 35+ completed utility-scale projects and 18 live projects in 11 countries, USP&E is ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 certified.
Proof from Recent Mobile Gas Turbine Projects
You need proof that USP&E can deliver turbine capacity quickly and correctly. These projects show refurbishment, zero-hour supply and fast modular delivery.
- USP&E has refurbished seven GE Frame 6B gas turbines to zero hours in-house for major US hyperscale data-centre developers.
- Perenco, Guatemala: USP&E delivered a 13.1 MW HFO/diesel modular power station under full EPC in under five months, on time and on budget. Read the case study.
- NEOM, Saudi Arabia: USP&E supplied three zero-hour Siemens SGT-400 gas turbines as the single technical and commercial interface, and the client reported savings of over $10 million. Read the case study.
HowTo: Build the equipment and delivery path
Your 3-step plan: 1. Share your site location, soil data and deployment window. 2. Get a pad, leveling and machine plan with EPC and O&M scope. 3. Mobilise, level, verify vibration and hand over a site record.
- Map mobile GT loads, pad sites, soil and jack constraints, and which duties need grid-tie versus island leveling packs.
- Compare natural gas engines/stations, a remanufactured GE Frame 6B, and verified used/new gas turbines against that leveling and duty matrix.
- Review candidates at the central inventory hub and request records, inspection findings, controls status, and logistics dimensions.
- Reserve civil and electrical interfaces for modular FX-45 OCGT 45MW / CCGT 108MW 2×1, 50/60 Hz, with capacity slots from 2028.
- Write leveling procedures, jack schedules, relocatable logistics, training, and O&M with named roles.
- Complete permits, funding, fuel agreements, and commissioning rehearsals before mobilisation.

FAQ: Mobile GT Trailer Leveling Pack
Why design a trailer leveling pack before mobilisation?
USP&E designs the leveling pack first because a mobile turbine that sits unevenly runs with higher vibration and misleading oil level readings. Soft soil or missing shims found on arrival delay commissioning, cause trips and cost your customer days of power they were promised.
What soil information does a mobile turbine pad need?
USP&E asks for bearing capacity, water table, drainage and any fill or soft layers at each site. That data decides between compacted gravel and concrete pads under jack points, and it accounts for crane outriggers as well as the trailer, fuel skid and control module.
Can a remanufactured GE Frame 6B follow a mobile deployment?
USP&E can place a remanufactured GE Frame 6B on a permanent foundation once a site needs more continuous capacity than trailers provide. The unit is judged on records, inspection scope and transport needs, and the mobile units can stay on until it is commissioned.
Where are USP&E offices that support US mobile turbine projects?
USP&E links one team for mobile projects, starting in the US with Colorado Springs and Knoxville for engineering, site walks and equipment follow-up. London sets up commercial structure and finance, Johannesburg leads design and project controls, Cape Town adds depth, and Wuxi expedites balance-of-plant.
Has USP&E delivered fast turbine projects before?
USP&E has refurbished seven GE Frame 6B gas turbines to zero hours in-house for major US hyperscale data-centre developers. Public case studies include three zero-hour Siemens SGT-400 turbines for NEOM and a 13.1 MW modular station for Perenco delivered in under five months.
Is USP&E a broker for mobile turbines?
USP&E is not a broker. USP&E is a full-service EPC and O&M contractor that engineers, supplies, mobilises, commissions and operates power plants, so the team that plans your pad and leveling pack also sets up the unit and stays accountable for how it runs.
How fast can USP&E respond to a mobile deployment request?
USP&E can begin as soon as you share the site location, soil information, load and deployment window. A first pad and logistics review follows quickly, and mobilisation timing then depends on unit availability, permits, fuel supply and the transport routes to your site.
What should O&M cover for mobile leveling packs?
USP&E includes level checks after the first heat cycle and at set intervals, vibration trending, jack and shim inspections, pad drainage checks and kit inventory in mobile O&M. Each check has a named role, so problems are caught before they cause a trip.
Arrive Ready, Level and Running
Get the pad and leveling pack right and your mobile turbine is synchronised within days of arrival. Get it wrong and the crew waits on gravel and cranes while vibration trips the unit. USP&E will help you prepare every site properly.
