Mobile GT Redeployment Pack

You own or lease mobile gas turbines that have finished one job and need to start the next. Redeployment looks simple on paper: disconnect, load, move, reconnect. In practice, each move risks damage, lost parts, missed preservation and a unit that will not start at the new site.

Treat redeployment casually and you inherit someone else’s problems: unknown faults, missing records and corrosion that grew in transit. That means delays at the new site, unhappy customers and lost revenue from equipment that should already be earning.

USP&E as Your Guide to Redeployments That Start First Time

We know how much value sits in a mobile fleet that moves well. Since 2002 USP&E has built 150+ power stations and supplied about 25 000 MW, and our 400+ engineers and project managers have demobilised, preserved, moved and recommissioned generation equipment across many countries. We work under ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 systems with FCPA and OFAC controls. USP&E is a full-service EPC and O&M contractor, not a broker.

Treat Redeployment as a Project of Its Own

Your redeployment is a project of its own, with a scope, schedule, budget and accountable lead. It covers demobilisation at the old site, inspection and preservation, transport, storage if needed, site preparation at the new location and recommissioning. Each step has risks that need planning, and each one is easier to control when you plan it before the unit stops running.

Start planning before your current job ends. Book transport, prepare permits, confirm foundations and connections, and agree the new site’s readiness date, so your unit spends as little time idle as possible. Idle time costs you revenue and increases preservation risk, especially in humid or coastal climates.

Capture a Condition Baseline at Demobilisation

Before you disconnect, run the unit and record a condition baseline: vibration, exhaust temperature spread, fuel and lube oil data, alarm history and borescope findings where practical. Download control settings and back up programs. Photograph connections and label every cable and pipe as it is removed.

This baseline tells you whether your unit left in good condition and gives the new site a reference for recommissioning. Without it, any fault found later becomes an argument about where and when it started, between you, the haulier and the next site, and you lose time proving what could have been recorded in an hour.

Preserve Between Sites and Choose What Moves Next

Follow your preservation procedures for the turbine, generator and auxiliaries: dry air or desiccant, sealed openings, heaters where possible and corrosion protection on exposed surfaces. Record every step you take. If storage stretches beyond plan, inspect and renew preservation on schedule, and keep the records with the unit so the next site can see them.

Choose what you move next carefully, matching the unit to the duty at the new site. Your gas turbine generators, a remanufactured GE Frame 6B, used/new gas turbines and natural gas engines/stations each suit different duties. Compute sites using AI gas turbines, hyperscale generators and gas turbines for compute may later need modular FX-45 OCGT 45MW / CCGT 108MW 2×1 blocks, for 50 Hz and 60 Hz with capacity slots from 2028, under one hyperscale EPC/O&M team.

Local Teams Near Your Mobile Gas Turbine Site

Data-centre schedules are won or lost in permitting, gas supply and interconnection, so USP&E puts its US offices first. Colorado Springs (1755 Telstar Dr, Suite 300) and Knoxville (800 S Gay St, Suite 700) give you two US bases for engineering reviews, procurement follow-up and site visits, and both teams work your mobile GT site receiving and fuel hook-up alongside you rather than from a sales desk.

Behind them, London (162-168 Regent Street) handles structuring, bonding and finance; Johannesburg (22 Kildoon Rd, Bryanston) owns engineering and project controls for mobile gas turbine trailers, Frame 6B bridges and BOP skids; Cape Town (31 Brickfield Road, Woodstock) supports design and commissioning; and Wuxi, China (No. 1, Ningzhou Road, Wuxi) manages China manufacturing and supply-chain follow-up.

For your mobile GT site receiving and redeployment, US engineers can witness the condition baseline before the unit leaves and the recommissioning when it arrives, while mobile gas turbine trailers, Frame 6B bridges and BOP skids move on one plan. Regions served: USA | AFRICA | UK | UAE | CHINA. That network has guided projects in 85+ countries, delivered 35+ completed utility-scale projects and runs 18 live projects in 11 countries under ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 certified systems.

Proof from Recent Mobile Gas Turbine Projects

You want proof that USP&E can move generation equipment and put it back to work. These projects show that record.

  • USP&E has refurbished seven GE Frame 6B gas turbines to zero hours in-house for major US hyperscale data-centre developers.
  • Perenco, Guatemala: USP&E delivered a 13.1 MW HFO/diesel modular power station under full EPC in under five months, on time and on budget. Read the case study.
  • NEOM, Saudi Arabia: USP&E supplied three zero-hour Siemens SGT-400 gas turbines as the single technical and commercial interface, and the client reported savings of over $10 million. Read the case study.

HowTo: Build the equipment and delivery path

Your 3-step plan: 1. Share your unit records, current site and next destination under NDA. 2. Receive a redeployment plan with baseline, preservation and transport. 3. Demobilise, move, recommission and support with accountable O&M.

  1. Plan demobilisation before the current contract ends, including transport and storage.
  2. Record a condition baseline with borescope images, vibration data, and oil samples.
  3. Isolate, disconnect, tag, and preserve the unit according to OEM guidance.
  4. Compare redeployment with a remanufactured GE Frame 6B, used/new gas turbines, or natural gas engines/stations at the central inventory hub.
  5. Map hand-over to modular FX-45 OCGT 45MW / CCGT 108MW 2×1 blocks (50/60 Hz, capacity slots from 2028) where bridge power leads to permanent plant.
  6. Recommission at the new site against the baseline and hand over the full history.

FAQ: Mobile GT Redeployment Pack

Why is mobile gas turbine redeployment a project of its own?

USP&E treats redeployment as a full project because demobilisation, inspection, preservation, transport and recommissioning each carry risks. Moving a unit casually can cause damage, lost parts and failed starts at the new site, which delays your revenue and frustrates the customers waiting for power.

What should a demobilisation condition baseline include?

USP&E records vibration, exhaust temperature spread, fuel and lube oil data, alarm history and borescope findings where practical, plus control settings and program backups. Labelled connections and photographs complete the record, which becomes your reference for recommissioning at the next site and for any warranty discussion.

Where are USP&E’s offices for US mobile power redeployments?

USP&E’s US offices in Colorado Springs and Knoxville give mobile power clients two US bases for engineering reviews, procurement follow-up and site visits. London handles structuring and finance, Johannesburg owns engineering and project controls, Cape Town supports commissioning and Wuxi manages China manufacturing follow-up.

Has USP&E delivered relocated and modular generation before?

USP&E has refurbished seven GE Frame 6B gas turbines to zero hours in-house for major US hyperscale data-centre developers. Public case studies include a 13.1 MW modular station in Guatemala delivered in under five months and three zero-hour Siemens SGT-400 turbines supplied for NEOM.

Is USP&E a broker for mobile gas turbines?

USP&E is not a broker. USP&E is a full-service EPC and O&M contractor that demobilises, preserves, transports, recommissions and operates generation equipment, so the team moving your unit is also accountable for it starting and running at the new site.

How fast can USP&E respond to a redeployment request?

USP&E can begin planning as soon as you share unit records, the current site and the next destination. Transport, permits and preservation are planned in parallel, and the timeline then depends on route permits, new site readiness and equipment condition.

How should a mobile turbine be preserved between sites?

USP&E uses dry air or desiccant, sealed openings, heaters where possible and corrosion protection on exposed surfaces, recording every step. If storage lasts longer than planned, preservation is inspected and renewed on schedule so the unit arrives ready to recommission.

Can a redeployed mobile turbine bridge to permanent plant?

USP&E often uses redeployed mobile turbines as bridge capacity while permanent plant is built. The site layout reserves space for later blocks, and your mobile unit can be removed and redeployed again once permanent capacity is commissioned, so it keeps earning for you.

Move Your Fleet and Start First Time

Get redeployment right and your mobile turbines start earning at each new site with minimal downtime. Get it wrong and every move brings damage, delays and disputes. USP&E will help you plan, preserve and recommission every unit.
