Mobile GT Demister Pad Pack
Your mobile gas turbine moves from site to site, and each site brings its own weather: tropical downpours, coastal mist, fog or blowing sand. The inlet has to stop that moisture and dirt before it reaches the compressor, wherever the trailer lands.
If demisters and weather protection are an afterthought, the risk is water carried into the compressor, soaked filters that collapse, high inlet pressure drop and trips during the first storm. Your bridge power fails exactly when the customer depends on it, and recovery takes days.
USP&E as Your Guide for Mobile Turbine Sites
We know a mobile unit is only valuable if it keeps running after it arrives. Since 2002 USP&E has built 150+ power stations, supplied about 25 000 MW and guided projects in 85+ countries, with 35+ completed utility-scale projects and 18 live projects in 11 countries. Our 400+ engineers and project managers are ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 certified and work under FCPA and OFAC controls. USP&E is a full-service EPC and O&M contractor, not a broker.
Match the Inlet Pack to Each Site’s Weather
Before each move, review your next site’s climate: rainfall intensity, fog, humidity, coastal salt and dust seasons. Fit your inlet pack accordingly, with weather hoods to shed rain, demister or coalescer pads to catch droplets and salt, and filter stages suited to the dust. A pack configured for a dry inland site can fail quickly on the coast.
Check your drainage. Demisters collect water that must drain away freely, not pool in the inlet or freeze in winter. Orient your trailer so the inlet faces away from prevailing wind-driven rain where you can, and keep drains clear of pad gravel and debris.
Write Pad Change Rules and Weather Procedures
Set your differential-pressure alarms for each inlet stage and record a clean baseline at every new site. Write when demister pads and filters are changed, how spares travel with the fleet and who carries out the work. Your crews should be able to swap a soaked pad safely between storms.
Plan for extreme weather at your sites. Some operators reduce load or shut down briefly during the worst storms rather than risk compressor damage. Natural gas engines/stations used beside mobile turbines need suitable inlet protection too, so the whole temporary plant rides out the same weather.
Bridge Capacity and Compute Horizons
A remanufactured GE Frame 6B can follow a mobile deployment when a site needs continuous firm megawatts beyond trailer-sized units. Check records, inspection scope and its inlet system, and compare used/new gas turbines on how well their filter houses suit the local climate.
Campuses planning AI gas turbines, hyperscale generators and gas turbines for compute often start with mobile units while permanent yards are built. The planning reference for later blocks is modular FX-45 OCGT 45MW / CCGT 108MW 2×1, for 50 Hz and 60 Hz, with capacity slots from 2028. One contractor carrying hyperscale EPC/O&M keeps inlet standards consistent from mobile to permanent plant.
Your gas turbine generators earn their keep in bad weather. A well-matched inlet pack is what lets a mobile fleet deliver on that promise.
Global Offices Behind Your Mobile Gas Turbine Programme
Your team wants answers in its own time zone. USP&E’s offices in Colorado Springs (1755 Telstar Dr, Suite 300) and Knoxville (800 S Gay St, Suite 700) lead your mobile GT site receiving and fuel hook-up conversations in the US, from the first data request to the site visit, so questions about fuel, interconnection and delivery are answered by people who can be on site.
The wider network carries the heavy lifting for mobile gas turbine trailers, Frame 6B bridges and BOP skids: London (162-168 Regent Street) for structuring and finance, Johannesburg (22 Kildoon Rd, Bryanston) for engineering and project controls, Cape Town (31 Brickfield Road, Woodstock) for design and commissioning support, and Wuxi, China (No. 1, Ningzhou Road, Wuxi) for China supply chain and manufacturing.
For a mobile fleet, that means the team that reviews each site’s climate also configures your inlet pack and sends spares with the crew, so the first storm after arrival is handled with the right pads and drains in place. Regions served: USA | AFRICA | UK | UAE | CHINA. USP&E’s reach covers 85+ countries guided, 35+ completed utility-scale projects and 18 live projects in 11 countries, and the company is ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 certified.
What USP&E Has Delivered for Mobile Gas Turbine Buyers
You need proof that USP&E can deliver turbine capacity quickly and correctly. These projects show refurbishment, zero-hour supply and complex redeployment.
- USP&E has refurbished seven GE Frame 6B gas turbines to zero hours in-house for major US hyperscale data-centre developers.
- NEOM, Saudi Arabia: USP&E supplied three zero-hour Siemens SGT-400 gas turbines as the single technical and commercial interface, and the client reported savings of over $10 million. Read the case study.
- MAN redeployment, Iraq: USP&E moved a stranded 32 MW MAN plant, plus two surplus MAN generators, across four countries to an industrial buyer facing 12 to 18 month lead times for new engines. Read the case study.
HowTo: Build the equipment and delivery path
Your 3-step plan: 1. Share your site location, climate data and deployment window. 2. Get an inlet pack and machine plan with EPC and O&M scope. 3. Mobilise, record the clean baseline and run weather procedures.
- Separate true bridge loads from continuous and compute-adjacent duties that may migrate onto longer GT capacity behind redesigned demister packs.
- Compare mobile GT retention, natural gas engines/stations, a remanufactured GE Frame 6B, and verified used/new gas turbines against that demister and duty matrix.
- Review candidates at the central inventory hub and request records, inspection findings, controls status, and logistics dimensions.
- Reserve civil and electrical interfaces for modular FX-45 OCGT 45MW / CCGT 108MW 2×1, 50/60 Hz, with capacity slots from 2028.
- Rewrite demister, weather, island transfer, exercise, and O&M procedures for the mixed fleet with named roles.
- Complete permits, funding, fuel agreements, and commissioning rehearsals before final equipment selection.

FAQ: Mobile GT Demister Pad Pack
Should mobile gas turbines keep demister proving when a permanent block joins?
USP&E keeps demister and inlet checks on every mobile unit that stays in service, even after a permanent block arrives. Mobile units often become standby or peaking capacity, and a neglected inlet fails in the first storm, just when that backup is needed.
What does a mobile turbine inlet pack need for wet climates?
USP&E fits weather hoods to shed rain, demister or coalescer pads to catch droplets and salt, filter stages suited to local dust and free-draining collection. Differential-pressure alarms on each stage show when pads are loading, so crews change them before output suffers.
Can a remanufactured GE Frame 6B follow a mobile deployment?
USP&E can place a remanufactured GE Frame 6B on a permanent foundation once a site needs more continuous capacity than trailers provide. Its inlet system is reviewed with the records and inspection scope, and upgraded if the local climate demands better protection.
Where are USP&E offices that support US mobile turbine projects?
USP&E’s offices in Colorado Springs and Knoxville lead US mobile projects, from data requests to site visits. London covers structuring and finance, Johannesburg handles engineering and project controls, Cape Town supports design and commissioning, and Wuxi covers China supply chain and manufacturing.
Has USP&E delivered fast turbine projects before?
USP&E has refurbished seven GE Frame 6B gas turbines to zero hours in-house for major US hyperscale data-centre developers. Public case studies include three zero-hour Siemens SGT-400 turbines for NEOM and a 32 MW MAN plant redeployed across four countries.
Is USP&E a broker for mobile turbines?
USP&E is not a broker. USP&E is a full-service EPC and O&M contractor that engineers, supplies, mobilises, commissions and operates power plants, so the team that configures your inlet pack also stands behind the unit through every storm on site.
How fast can USP&E respond to a mobile deployment request?
USP&E can begin as soon as you share the site location, climate information, load and deployment window. A first inlet and logistics review follows quickly, and mobilisation timing then depends on unit availability, permits, fuel supply and the transport routes to your site.
What should O&M cover after demister redesign?
USP&E includes differential-pressure trending, pad and filter changes, drain inspections, weather hood checks and spare stock audits in mobile O&M. Each task has a named role, so your inlet stays protected through every season at every site, and your crews never improvise in a storm.
Keep Your Mobile Power Running in Any Weather
Get the inlet pack right and your mobile turbine rides out rain, fog and mist without losing output. Get it wrong and the first storm trips the unit when your customer needs it most. USP&E will help you prepare every site properly.
