Mobile vs permanent BOP: choosing the right envelope for relocatable gas turbines
The turbine package is only half the decision. Balance-of-plant design decides whether megawatts stay mobile, convert cleanly to permanent, or strand CapEx when the load moves.

Yet first-fire and demobilisation both hinge on balance of plant: fuel conditioning, switchgear, transformers, cooling, controls, acoustics, and civil interfaces. What “mobile BOP” typically includes

Permanent BOP is the right call when load duration and offtake certainty justify it — mining plants with long life-of-mine power, utility baseload, or hyperscale campuses. Favour mobile BOP when
- Duty is bridge, peak, or relocatable camp power with an exit date.

- Offtake and load are contracted for the long term.

Hybrid envelopes

Can we start mobile and convert later?
Yes — if interconnect stubs, fuel headers, and civil interfaces are designed for conversion. That is an EPC choice at FEED, not a field improvisation.
Does permanent BOP mean we cannot use trailer turbines?
