Why mobile projects need integrated EPC and O&M
Relocatable power fails when mobilisation is treated as a logistics exercise and operations as someone else’s problem. Trailer packages still need civil interface design, fuel quality management, protection settings, noise and emissions compliance, and operators who understand aero transient behaviour.
Paraphrasing live project themes: utility crises have been stabilised with mobile aero packages that later converted into multi-year O&M; mining clients have used modular and refurbished fleets to protect production; industrial and oil & gas sites have used relocatable blocks during construction then retained USP&E for operations. The pattern is consistent — arrive fast, prove reliability, earn the longer relationship. That is Extreme Ownership applied to power stations that can move.
EPC / EPCM scope for mobile packages
- Fuel systems (gas trains, liquid backup, dual-fuel changeover where applicable)
- Electrical: generator step-up, switchgear, protection, synchronisation, island or grid mode
- Balance of plant: cooling, air intake, exhaust, acoustic treatment, fire and safety
- Commissioning procedures, performance checks, and handover documentation
Mobile fleets fail when used and new packages share a site but not a spare strategy, protection philosophy, or CMMS habit. Extreme Ownership means one RACI across vintages. SmartPower-style monitoring and UpKeep themes keep availability measurable whether the serial number is surplus or new. Related fleet EPC: EPC O&M modular fleets and hyperscale EPC O&M mobile bridge.
O&M that follows the fleet
One package on a pad is a project. Three to ten packages become a temporary power station: shared fuel, switchgear, protection, access roads, and noise envelopes. Layout mistakes create deadlocks — units that cannot be maintained without shutting neighbours, cables that block demobilisation, or coolers that recirculate hot exhaust. USP&E designs multi-unit mobile GT farms under Extreme Ownership EPC so relocatable megawatts behave like a plant.
Synchronizing is more than matching voltage and frequency on a screen. For relocatable gas turbines it includes: choosing dead-bus versus live-bus strategies; coordinating with existing diesel fleets or utility ties; setting reverse-power, under/over frequency, and vector-shift protections that fit temporary topologies; and proving that load steps will not collapse the island. USP&E since 2002 has commissioned frontier plants where temporary iron must behave as if it were permanent — then leave without stranding settings files.
What O&M includes
- 24/7 operations support and load management
- Overhaul planning and rehabilitation
Bridge today, permanent tomorrow
A remanufactured GE Frame 6B is not mobile in the trailer sense, but it can follow a mobile unit as a semi-permanent bridge on a prepared foundation. You should plan its pad, gas and electrical interfaces at the same time as the mobile site, so the transition is smooth.

EPC & O&M FAQ
Can USP&E take Extreme Ownership of a plant we already own?
Yes. O&M and rehabilitation programmes can wrap existing mobile or stationary fleets, with SmartPower integration where appropriate.
Do you support Power-as-a-Service or rental-to-own paths?
Commercial structures can include bridge rental, Power-as-a-Service, LSTK EPC, and long-term O&M. Structure follows the project’s fuel, offtake, and timeline — not a one-size product sheet.
Why owners choose USP&E
USP&E is a full-service engineering, EPC and O&M company, not a broker. One team designs, builds and runs your plant, so nothing falls between contracts.
Racing a go-live date?
Tell us your load, fuel and timeline. A USP&E engineer will come back with options for Mobile Gas Turbine Generators projects, not a sales pitch.
