Mobile Gas Turbine Generators · Powered by USP&E
Mobile GT Site Security Pack
You deploy mobile gas turbine generators to new, temporary or remote sites, often faster than anyone has thought about who can walk up to them. Copper cable, fuel, batteries, tools and spares make those sites attractive to the wrong people.
Without a security plan, theft, vandalism and unauthorised entry near high voltage follow. That means stolen parts, damaged units, safety incidents and downtime, with lost revenue, contract penalties and the risk of someone being seriously hurt on your site.
USP&E as Your Guide to Secure Mobile Power Sites
We understand that a mobile fleet is only valuable if it arrives intact and keeps running. Since 2002 USP&E has built 150+ power stations and supplied about 25 000 MW, and our 400+ engineers and project managers deploy and protect plant on remote and temporary sites around the world. We work under ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 systems with FCPA and OFAC controls. USP&E is a full-service EPC and O&M contractor, not a broker.
Assess the Threat Before You Arrive
Start with a threat and risk assessment for your site, its location and the length of stay. Consider theft, vandalism, unrest, wildlife and the simple risk of curious people wandering near live equipment. Talk to local police, neighbours and the landowner about what happens in the area, and ask about past incidents at nearby sites.
Your assessment drives everything else. A six-week deployment in a guarded industrial park needs a different plan from a two-year deployment on open land near a town, where the site becomes part of local life and attention grows over time. Write your assumptions down and review them if the stay is extended or the local situation changes.
Design the Perimeter and Control Access
Design your fencing, gates, lighting and signage around all equipment, fuel storage and laydown areas. Keep high-voltage equipment inside its own inner fence where needed, and make sure emergency services can still reach your site quickly, day or night.
Set up access control with inductions, visitor logs, key registers and links to your permit-to-work system, so nobody works on the plant without authorisation, and every contractor, driver and visitor is recorded on arrival and departure. Brief your guards on what normal activity looks like, and give them clear instructions on whom to call, in what order, for theft, fire, injury or an electrical alarm. Test the call list monthly, because phone numbers change faster than procedures.
Lock fuel, cable drums and tool stores, and avoid leaving valuable spares visible from outside your fence, where they invite attention.
Monitor, Tag and Plan the Fleet
Install cameras, intrusion detection and secure remote access, and protect your control networks from cyber threats as carefully as the fence. Register and tag every spare and tool, check your stock regularly and investigate losses quickly, because small losses usually come before large ones.
Compare your mobile units with a remanufactured GE Frame 6B, used/new gas turbines or natural gas engines/stations, and reserve space for modular FX-45 OCGT 45MW / CCGT 108MW 2×1 blocks, for 50 Hz and 60 Hz with capacity slots from 2028, as AI gas turbines, hyperscale generators and gas turbines for compute join under hyperscale EPC/O&M.

FAQ: Mobile GT Site Security Pack
Why do mobile gas turbine sites need a security pack?
USP&E prepares security packs because mobile sites often land in new or remote places with valuable cable, fuel, batteries and spares. Fencing, access control, monitoring and tagging protect the fleet from theft and vandalism and keep unauthorised people away from high voltage.
What does a threat assessment for a mobile power site cover?
USP&E threat assessments cover theft, vandalism, unrest, wildlife and accidental entry, based on the location and the length of stay. Local police, neighbours and landowners are consulted, and the assumptions are written down and reviewed if the deployment is extended.
Where are USP&E’s offices for US mobile gas turbine projects?
USP&E’s offices in Colorado Springs and Knoxville lead US mobile gas turbine projects, from site reviews to deployment planning. London, Johannesburg, Cape Town and Wuxi support behind them with engineering, structuring, finance and supply chain for the fleet and its spares.
Has USP&E delivered and moved gas turbine plant before?
USP&E has refurbished seven GE Frame 6B gas turbines to zero hours in-house for major US hyperscale data-centre developers. Public case studies include three Siemens SGT-400 turbines for NEOM and a stranded 32 MW MAN plant moved across four countries to Iraq.
Is USP&E a broker for mobile gas turbine generators?
USP&E is not a broker. USP&E is a full-service EPC and O&M contractor that supplies, deploys, commissions and operates power plants, so the team planning your site security is also accountable for keeping your fleet running safely from arrival to demobilisation.
How fast can USP&E respond to a site security request?
USP&E can begin a threat assessment as soon as you share the site location, deployment period and fleet list. Engineers propose the perimeter and access plan first, and installation timing then depends on site access, local suppliers, guard services and permits.
How should spares be protected on a mobile power site?
USP&E registers and tags every spare and tool, stores them in locked containers out of sight and checks stock regularly. Losses are investigated quickly and reported to you, because missing parts can delay repairs and cause downtime as much as theft damages budgets.
Does cyber security matter for mobile turbine sites?
USP&E protects control networks and remote access as carefully as the fence, because a compromised connection can stop units as surely as physical damage. Secure remote access, strong passwords and network separation are part of every mobile site security pack.
