Mobile GT Fuel Logistics
Your mobile gas turbine can arrive on a few trailers and be generating within weeks. But it only runs if fuel arrives with it: pipeline taps, CNG or LNG trucks, pressure regulation and storage that someone has planned, permitted and paid for.
If fuel logistics are an afterthought, the package sits on blocks while the gas plan catches up, a costly delay. You pay rental and standby charges for a machine that produces nothing, the load you needed to serve waits, and your schedule slips week by week.
USP&E as Your Guide for Mobile Turbine Fuel Logistics
We know how much pressure sits on a fast-track power deployment, and how often fuel is the hidden bottleneck. Since 2002 USP&E has built 150+ power stations, supplied about 25 000 MW and guided projects in 85+ countries, with 35+ completed utility-scale projects and 18 live projects in 11 countries. Our 400+ engineers and project managers are ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 certified and work under FCPA and OFAC controls. USP&E is a full-service EPC and O&M contractor, not a broker.
Solve Fuel Before the Trailers Roll
Start with the fuel you can actually get to site: a pipeline tap with enough pressure and capacity, virtual pipeline deliveries of CNG or LNG, or a liquid fuel backup. Each option has its own lead time, permits and equipment, from regulators and heaters to decompression skids and vaporisers. Fix the fuel plan before you fix the delivery date.
Size fuel deliveries for the real duty. A mobile unit running continuously burns a lot of gas, and a truck-based supply needs a reliable schedule, on-site storage and a plan for weather or road closures. If the fuel chain cannot keep up, your mobile gas turbine generators become expensive spectators. Agree who holds the fuel contract, who manages deliveries on site and who calls the alarm when stocks fall, before the first truck arrives.
Bridge With Mobile Units and a Remanufactured GE Frame 6B
Mobile packages and a remanufactured GE Frame 6B can share a bridging role while permanent fuel and capacity mature. Mobile units cover the fastest needs; a Frame 6B can follow with larger firm capacity once pipeline gas is secured. Verify the Frame 6B’s records, reman scope, controls condition and preservation before it ships.
Natural gas engines/stations can also bridge smaller or variable loads with modest fuel demand. Used/new gas turbines belong in the same comparison, judged on fuel consumption, mobilisation time, site footprint and the cost of demobilising them when permanent power arrives.
Bridge to FX-45 and Compute-Adjacent Growth
If your site grows toward AI gas turbines, hyperscale generators and gas turbines for compute, temporary fuel arrangements should evolve into permanent infrastructure. Reserve space for gas reception, treatment and electrical yards, and place mobile units where they will not block the permanent build.
The planning reference for later capacity is modular FX-45 OCGT 45MW / CCGT 108MW 2×1, for 50 Hz and 60 Hz, with capacity slots from 2028. One team carrying mobile deployment into hyperscale EPC/O&M keeps fuel contracts, connections and operating records continuous from the first trailer to the final block.
USP&E Offices Serving Mobile Gas Turbine Buyers
You should not have to explain your load profile three times. For your mobile GT site receiving and fuel hook-up, USP&E links one accountable team across its offices, starting in the US: Colorado Springs (1755 Telstar Dr, Suite 300) and Knoxville (800 S Gay St, Suite 700) for US-side engineering, site walks and equipment follow-up.
London (162-168 Regent Street) sets up commercial structure and finance, Johannesburg (22 Kildoon Rd, Bryanston) leads design, project controls and quality for mobile gas turbine trailers, Frame 6B bridges and BOP skids, Cape Town (31 Brickfield Road, Woodstock) adds engineering depth, and Wuxi, China (No. 1, Ningzhou Road, Wuxi) expedites switchgear, transformers and balance-of-plant from Chinese manufacturers.
For a mobile turbine deployment, that means US engineers can check pads, roads and fuel connections on site before the trailers leave, while fuel, transport and commissioning stay with one team. Regions served: USA | AFRICA | UK | UAE | CHINA. With 85+ countries guided, 35+ completed utility-scale projects and 18 live projects in 11 countries, USP&E is ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 certified.
USP&E Track Record for Mobile Gas Turbine
Fast deployments live or die on logistics. These projects show USP&E moving and building power plants quickly across borders and remote sites.
- USP&E has refurbished seven GE Frame 6B gas turbines to zero hours in-house for major US hyperscale data-centre developers.
- MAN redeployment, Iraq: USP&E moved a stranded 32 MW MAN plant, plus two surplus MAN generators, across four countries to an industrial buyer facing 12 to 18 month lead times for new engines. Read the case study.
- Perenco, Guatemala: USP&E delivered a 13.1 MW HFO/diesel modular power station under full EPC in under five months, on time and on budget. Read the case study.
HowTo: Build the equipment and delivery path
Your 3-step plan: 1. Share load windows, site access and fuel options under NDA. 2. Receive a fuel logistics and deployment plan with equipment options. 3. Mobilise, commission and run under accountable O&M.
- Map mobile load windows, fuel options, access roads, and which duties need gas turbine generators versus temporary diesel helpers.
- Compare trailer packages, a remanufactured GE Frame 6B, verified used/new gas turbines, and natural gas engines/stations against that logistics matrix.
- Review current equipment at the central inventory hub and request records, inspection findings, controls status, and logistics dimensions.
- Reserve civil and electrical interfaces for modular FX-45 OCGT 45MW / CCGT 108MW 2×1, 50/60 Hz, with capacity slots from 2028.
- Write receiving, sampling, demobilisation, training, and temporary O&M procedures with named owners.
- Complete permits, funding, fuel agreements, and commissioning rehearsals before mobilisation.

FAQ: Mobile GT Fuel Logistics
Why do mobile gas turbine projects stall on fuel?
USP&E sees mobile projects stall on fuel because your turbine can arrive faster than gas supply, regulation and permits. Without a planned pipeline tap or virtual pipeline, trained receiving crews and on-site storage, the package waits idle while rental and standby charges continue to accumulate.
Can a remanufactured GE Frame 6B follow a mobile deployment?
USP&E often plans a remanufactured GE Frame 6B to follow mobile units once pipeline gas is secured. Mobile packages cover immediate needs, and the Frame 6B adds larger firm capacity, provided its records, controls and preservation are verified and its site position is planned early.
Where are USP&E offices that support mobile turbine projects?
USP&E supports US mobile turbine projects from its Colorado Springs and Knoxville offices, which lead site checks, procurement and logistics. London covers structuring and finance, Johannesburg runs engineering and project controls, Cape Town supports commissioning, and Wuxi follows China manufacturing and supply chain items.
Has USP&E delivered fast-track power projects before?
USP&E has delivered fast-track power repeatedly. USP&E has refurbished seven GE Frame 6B gas turbines to zero hours in-house for major US hyperscale data-centre developers, moved a stranded 32 MW MAN plant across four countries to Iraq, and delivered a 13.1 MW modular station in Guatemala in under five months.
Is USP&E a broker?
USP&E is not a broker. USP&E is a full-service EPC and O&M contractor that plans fuel, transports equipment, builds connections, commissions and operates power plants, so the team arranging your mobile deployment is accountable for it actually generating on schedule.
How fast can USP&E respond to a mobile power request?
USP&E can begin as soon as you share load windows, site location, access routes and fuel options. US engineers review fuel and site readiness first, then equipment and transport, and timing depends on fuel supply, permits and equipment availability rather than on internal handoffs.
What should your mobile turbine receiving pad include?
USP&E designs receiving pads with ground bearing capacity for heavy trailers, crane positions, access roads, drainage, earthing, fuel connection points and cable routes. Getting these right before arrival lets the package be set, connected and commissioned in days rather than waiting for civil fixes.
How do you plan demobilisation of your mobile units?
USP&E plans demobilisation from the start, covering disconnection, site restoration, transport and the handover of load to permanent plant. Knowing the exit plan and its cost helps you compare mobile, bridge and permanent options honestly and avoid surprises when the rental period ends.
