If the control trailer is badly placed, poorly cooled or wired in a hurry, your turbines sit ready while signals are traced and faults are chased. A loose connector or an overheated panel can trip a unit or the whole fleet, and an unsecured remote link can expose your plant to people who should never reach it. Every lost day of bridge power costs you the very speed you paid for.
USP&E Helps You Set Up Your Mobile GT Control Trailer
We know that a mobile fleet is only as fast as the controls that bring it online. With 150+ power projects in 45+ countries and 25,000 MW contracted since 2002, USP&E puts 400+ engineers and project managers behind you; they plan, connect and test control trailers so mobile gas turbine generators reach first power quickly and run reliably once they do. You get ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 certified quality and safety systems, with FCPA and OFAC compliance on every contract. USP&E is a full-service EPC and O&M contractor, not a broker.
A good control trailer setup is mostly decided before the trucks arrive. When you know what sits where, how signals travel and how the trailer is powered and protected, connection becomes routine.
Decide What Sits Where
Confirm which of your controls live on each turbine trailer and which live in the control trailer. Unit control panels, protection relays and local operator panels may be on the turbine trailer, while plant controls, load management, metering, communications and the main operator station often sit in the control house. The split decides how many cables cross the site.
Plan your control trailer’s position. It should be outside hazardous areas, away from exhaust plumes and hot air, with short and protected cable runs to every turbine and the switchgear. Operators should be able to reach it safely and, ideally, see the plant from it.
Check ground, drainage and levelling for your control trailer just as for the turbines. A trailer that settles unevenly strains connectors and doors, and standing water near cable entries invites faults.
Connect and Test Every Signal
Use labelled, rated connectors and pre-made cables on your fleet where the packages allow. Plug-and-play interfaces save days compared with terminating loose cores in the field, but only if every connector is checked for damage, moisture and correct pin-out before mating.
Separate power, control and communication cables, and route them in protected trays or covers where vehicles cross. Fibre links between trailers resist interference and lightning better than copper, but they need careful handling and spare cores.
Test every signal end to end before first fire. Trips, alarms, start and stop commands, breaker positions, metering and fuel system signals should all be proven and recorded. A signal list with a test record per line gives you confidence and a fault-finding tool for later.
Power, Cool and Secure the Trailer
Give your control trailer reliable auxiliary power with battery or UPS backup, so controls and protection stay alive through a plant trip. Plan HVAC that keeps electronics within their limits on the hottest day, with filters that cope with dust, and add fire detection suited to electronic equipment.
Set up secure remote access before the plant runs. Use named accounts, controlled connections and logging, and agree who may connect and when. Remote monitoring is valuable for a mobile fleet, but only when it cannot be used against you.
Control trailers are often the first step toward a permanent plant. Under hyperscale EPC/O&M, a bridge of mobile units can hand over to AI gas turbines, hyperscale generators and gas turbines for compute in fixed blocks, and New USP&E FX-45 45MW Modular Gas Turbine for the Hyperscale Data Center sector in the USA can follow later. A remanufactured GE Frame 6B, verified used/new gas turbines and natural gas engines/stations can join the same control scheme.
Local Teams Near Your Mobile Gas Turbine Site
Data-centre schedules are won or lost in permitting, gas supply and interconnection, so USP&E puts its US offices first. Colorado Springs (1755 Telstar Dr, Suite 300) and Knoxville (800 S Gay St, Suite 700) give you two US bases for engineering reviews, procurement follow-up and site visits, and both teams work your mobile GT site receiving and fuel hook-up alongside you rather than from a sales desk.
Behind them, London (162-168 Regent Street) handles structuring, bonding and finance; Johannesburg (22 Kildoon Rd, Bryanston) owns engineering and project controls for mobile gas turbine trailers, Frame 6B bridges and BOP skids; Cape Town (31 Brickfield Road, Woodstock) supports design and commissioning; and Wuxi, China (No. 1, Ningzhou Road, Wuxi) manages China manufacturing and supply-chain follow-up.
For mobile turbine control trailers, Colorado Springs and Knoxville engineers can review your control split and signal list, then supervise connection and end-to-end testing on site before first fire. Regions served: USA | AFRICA | UK | UAE | CHINA. That network stands behind 150+ power projects in 45+ countries and 25,000 MW contracted since 2002, run under ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 certified systems.

FAQ: Mobile GT Control Trailer Pack
What does a mobile GT control trailer contain?
USP&E usually sees plant controls, load management, metering, communications, protection interfaces and the main operator station in the control trailer. Unit control panels may stay on each turbine trailer. Your package design decides the split, which in turn decides how many cables cross the site.
Where should the control trailer be placed?
USP&E places control trailers outside hazardous areas and away from exhaust plumes, with short, protected cable runs to the turbines and switchgear. Operators need safe access, and a view of the plant helps. Ground, drainage and levelling matter as much as for the turbines.
Why test every signal before first fire?
USP&E proves trips, alarms, commands, breaker positions, metering and fuel signals end to end because one wrong or missing signal can trip a unit or hide a fault. A signal list with a recorded test per line also gives your team a fault-finding tool later.
How should remote access be secured?
USP&E sets up named accounts, controlled connections and logging, and agrees who may connect and when. Remote monitoring is valuable for a mobile fleet, but an unsecured link can expose the plant. Security should be in place before your turbines run, not added afterwards.
Where are USP&E’s offices that support mobile GT fleets?
USP&E supports your mobile turbine fleet from Colorado Springs and Knoxville, where engineers plan controls, cabling and connections. London handles contracts and finance, Johannesburg and Cape Town support African deployments, and Wuxi follows up trailers, switchgear and equipment made in China.
Has USP&E delivered gas turbine projects before?
USP&E has refurbished seven GE Frame 6B gas turbines to zero hours in-house for major US hyperscale data-centre developers. Public case studies also cover NEOM, where USP&E supplied zero-hour gas turbines as the single technical and commercial interface. You can read each case study and judge for yourself.
Is USP&E a broker for mobile turbines?
USP&E is not a broker. USP&E supplies, installs, commissions and maintains turbine fleets with its own engineers, so the team that plans your control trailer is the same team that connects it, tests it and answers for the fleet in operation.
How fast can USP&E respond to a control trailer review?
USP&E can start reviewing your package drawings, signal lists and site layout as soon as you share them under NDA. Engineers flag missing signals, poor placement and cooling gaps first, so connection on site can start the day the trailers arrive.
